Poetics for screenwriting


Michael Tierno comes up with the idea of going to Poetics as a source of theory for screenwriters. He thought, "What was Aristotle really saying? What would he say about screenwriting?"

To him, Aristotle seemed to point out key things that people do wrong and point out proper techniques. For example, the Philosopher said it was more important to write about an action than to write about a character. In fact if you write about an action and have the character take the lead in the action, you will communicate a strong character.
