The idea of a father preceding his son cannot be maintained with respect to a text that is preceded by a speaker because he is not outside of language.
We should not conceive of language in the light of a comprehensive 'fatherly' instance that produces, governs, and directs it. It is precisely language that first enables this kind of thinking and such concepts as father and son; we are always already in logos.
