Islamic Ebooks

Promoting ebooks is one of the practical measures taken by the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry for the year to March which has been designated by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the Year of Innovation and Prosperity, said deputy minister for cultural affairs.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the sixth Book Fair which is underway in Shahr-e Kord, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari province, and will continue until July 27, Mohsen Parviz further said that people from different walks of life can present new cultural approaches to the officials so as to help promote cultural atmosphere in the country in an innovative manner.

In the exhibit, the pavilion on the Year of Innovation and Prosperity' has been set up in a distinct manner and showcases books and tableaux focusing on the same subjects and Islamic Revolution.

The event has some 45,000 titles of books by 400 publishers on display in 150 pavilions.

The pavilion featuring books and book reading has been arranged in a special and attractive manner so as to promote book reading in the society. --IRNA

Orphic movement

A Hellenistic mystery religion based on the teachings and songs of Orpheus is thought to have eventually arisen in ancient Greece, although no coherent description of such a religion can be constructed from historical evidence.

Most scholars agree that by the 5th century BC there was at least an Orphic movement, with traveling priests who offered teaching and initiation, based on a body of legend and doctrine said to have been founded by Orpheus. Part of the Orphic ritual is thought to have involved the mimed or actual dismemberment of an individual representing the god Dionysus, who was then seen to be reborn.

Orphic eschatology laid great stress on rewards and punishment after bodily death, the soul then being freed to achieve its true life.
