According to Adorno, " the consolation that thought within the context of collective action is an improvement proves deceptive: thinking, employed only as the instrument of action, is blunted in the same manner as all instrumental reason" .
Action, then, has the negative potential of becoming dangerous in the hands of the masses (a notion which so strikingly deviates from classical Marxist thought where the masses bear the potential of revolution).
