A condition of a text situated in a book is that it does not talkback.
Rather, it exists as a reading stasis; so a one-sided discourse; like a trick mirror that absorbs instead of reflects. Perhaps it was the sense of philosophical dialogue that led me to search for an interactive writing fantasy— a longing for liveness, a drive toward direct textualizing. This total, cumulative, and chronic condition I suffered from may be compared with the side effect of watching television, a medium that is by nature fragmentary and incomplete, distanced and unsatisfying; like platonic sex.
