Metabole is exploring the potential of federated links, in quest of a kind of "distributed 1-click" that will provide a seamless Web 2.0 identity subsystem.
Now we must think syndication, not simple coordination. Web services, like RSS and REST-based web services, are about syndicating data outwards, not controlling what happens when it gets to the other end of the connection: the link is dynamic, it's always changing.
This idea is fundamental to the internet itself, a reflection of what is known as the end-to-end principle.
