By analogy with speech acts, writing acts, text acts, hypertext acts can be defined.
The fundamental triadic structure of basic actions applies to interaction with a hypertext:
Initiation, reponse, transition
and from the individual point of view:
orientation, action, check
Example:
Orientation: Formulation of a search criterion for a search problem.
Action: Search instruction (e.g. HTML form submit for CGI processing in a Web environment)
Check: Examine results of search in relation to original problem.
