It is absurd to read everything - poetry, prose, pulp - alike, especially to read it all as fast as possible. Whom are they fleeing from, these running readers?
I fear the only answer is, "Themselves."
Anything that is worth studying should be read as slowly as it will let you, and read again and again till you have it by heart.
